The Green House - Ramsgate 2011
"The Green House" was built in in 2011 as an eco-house built in the walled orchard of a Grade II Listed ex-convent in Ramsgate, Kent. Water harvesting form the green roof provides plenty of water for the whole plot and an array of solar panels supplies more than enough energy to power the well insulated house. From the public street, the house is completely hidden behind the historic garden wall. From the private estate the entrance door is the only indication of the dwelling behind the wall. All the rooms rooms open onto the garden with ample full height sliding glazed doors. Roof-lights flood sunlight into the deeper areas of the floor-plan. The British Colombian pine cladding was stained with iron oxide to blend with the colours of the garden.
